If you plan to embed your company logo in the center or place your code outdoors, pick Quartile (25%) or High (30%) so the code scans effortlessly.
You need to be careful with contrast. Smartphone camera sensors look for the difference in light reflectance between the dark dots and the light spaces. If you put black dots onto dark brown cardboard, tinted glass, or brushed metal, the camera cannot tell the modules apart. For colored or transparent packaging, professional printers lay down an opaque white ink base before printing the QR code.
UPI codes follow the standard format created by NPCI. When customers scan your code with apps like Google Pay, PhonePe, or Paytm, their payment app opens immediately with your merchant name and ID filled in. If people will scan from further away, a good practical rule of thumb is to take the expected scanning distance and divide by 10. For example, a poster scanned from 2 meters away should have a QR code at least 20 cm wide.
